We’re coming back – and we’re aiming to be in person in 2021!
Make It Wyndham | Business Launchpad
illuminate Future is excited to be coming back to the West to support more young people (16 – 25 year old) to kick start their own business idea, but we know that everyone has ideas, so even if you are older (or younger!) you should apply for this program. Whether it is an idea you’ve had for a while, or something you’re just starting to think about – the Make It Wyndham Business Launchpad is for you!
You’ll get access to a series of entrepreneurship workshops delivered by Adam Mostogl (2017 Top 30 Australian Entrepreneurs Under 30 & 2015 Finalist for Young Australian of the Year) as well as one on one mentoring to help you build your confidence, capacity and skills to make it happen. Importantly, thanks to the support of Wyndham City Council, there is no cost to get involved – so what have you got to lose?
While the first round of the program in 2020 was delivered digitally due to restrictions around COVID-19, our February 2021 intake will benefit from a range of in-person events and workshops.
All you need to do is to register online today and we’ll be in touch – it’s that easy.
You’ll get access to seven workshops that will be scheduled during the day and/or in the evening (scheduled based on the timing of those who have registered), where you’ll learn more about what it takes to officially start a business, basics around marketing and finance as well as putting the right things in place to take your idea forward. Sessions include;
- Business 101: Getting Started
- Planning Ahead & Starting Strong
- Tell The World: Marketing
- Show Me The Money: Finance
- Working With Others
- Getting It Done: Project Management
- Making Impact & Communications
You’ll have plenty of chances to ask questions, learn from others and discover how your idea or passion can become a business idea that you can put into place.
On top of the workshops, you’ll get access to a number of one-on-one sessions with Adam to talk through your idea and answer all of your questions. Whether you need help building your business idea, working out steps that you can take to make it happen, anything you are unsure about or scared about – or anything to do with business, you’ll have time to do that individually.
These can be scheduled based on your calendar too – early in the morning, during the day when you get a chance or later into the evening – the choice is yours to make the most of these sessions to help you as you need.
Gala Pitch Night
Starting a business is something worth celebrating – and we’re hoping to do this as an in-person event through running a pitch night in mid-2021.
This will be a chance to jump up on stage, present your incredible idea to others to get support and customers to take everything to the next level, and share with those who you know about your awesome business.
More details about this event will be confirmed during the delivery of the program to ensure as many people can benefit from the session as possible.

I’m Interested – But Tell Me More…
Anyone between the age of 16 and 24 can apply to be part of the Make It Wyndham Business Launchpad, as long as you study, work or live in the Wyndham City Council area.
For those outside of this age group, please apply and applications will be accepted on a case by case scenario.
Yes, places are limited for all aspects of the Make It Wyndham Business Launchpad – and there will only be one more round of the program delivered in 2021. The best thing to do is to register to show your interest as early as possible.
No, not necessarily. You might have a passion to do something and we can develop that in the program, or else you might have something you have been wanting to start for a while – just enter with those details and we can talk further about the opportunity we can provide.
Firstly – congratulations! We always love hearing of young people who are being entrepreneurial and making a way for themselves while young.
The requirement around the competition is that you must be operating your business for less than twelve months at the time of entry to apply that idea into the competition. Most entrants will be applying with business ideas or concepts they have talked about but not yet actioned, so this is to keep it fair for all involved.
If you are unsure, please just register your interest and we can talk to you further about your application to clarify any details, as we are eager to support and benefit as many people as possible.
No. The sessions, mentoring and pitch night will provide support and valuable insights, but there is no money available through the program for business ideas to access.
Registrations of interest are open now, and will be until the second round of the program is delivered in late 2020.
While that gives you plenty of time to apply, it is best to apply as early as possible to make sure you can access the support on offer.
